The Importance of Self-regulation for Children

In part one of our series on self-regulation, we explained how a child’s ability to regulate his or her thoughts, emotions and behaviours can positively impact development. Many parents have asked us why this is so important.

As an adult, it’s easy to forget how little environmental changes can impact children; therefore, mastering self-regulation will help them to stay calm, alert and in control. The result will improve how they adjust to different situations and will help with overall development.

This video is part two in our series on self-regulation. We share different types of self-regulation, how they work and why they are important.

Are you familiar with how your child self-regulates? If you’re looking for evidence-based treatment approaches to help your child adapt to different environments and situations, a consultation with a 1to1Therapy therapist may be the answer.
